Sugar Loaf Mountain, 18 August 2009

We turned the corner from our hostel and there it was... Sugar Loaf Mountain!

Amazing. Welcome to Rio!

We walked along and handed over the cash for our tickets to the top.

We jumped in cable car number one with 68 other people and marvelled as we ascended throught the air towards the first peak of sugar loaf. Rio looked amazing. From here you could see the beach, the sea, the hills of Rio and of course, Jesus! We weren`t very high, and the sky had started to cloud over but it was still amazing!

We jumped straight into the second cable car figuring we would go all the way to the top and then make our way down.

Again incredible views of rio. We were on Sugar Loaf Mountain, in Rio, Brazil. It was such a surreal moment.

There was a little rain in the air so we went back to the lower peak where there was a little more shelter. As the rain had eased off we pulled up a bench and chilled out watching the city go by. It was just amazing. Yu could see the favellas all up the hillside. People looked like ants as they moved around in the streets below.

From this view Rio looked simply incredible. We were going to have an awesome few days!
