Killing time in Santa Cruz, 4 September 2009

I woke up this morning feeling suprisingly spritely given the copious amounts of vodka I had drunk the night before.

I was chatting to a few people at breakfast who mentioned that the World Press Photo 2009 exhibition was on display in the town and that it was worth checking out.

At first I was annoyed that i had failed to find this for myself yesterday, but then I figure that it was probably a good thing as it gave me something to do today.

The exhibition was incredible. I was moved to tears on so many photos, specifically ones taken in Georgia in the recent upheaval there. I also found the shocking photos of Sao Paulo and Brazil difficult to stomach having just come from there. I found happiness in a picture of snow leopard and loved some of the offerings taken in Beijing last summer.

After I had spent a good few hours admiring these incredible photographs I made my way back to another internet caff where I chilled out until it was time for my bus.
